I am an avid reader of Kelly's Korner Blog. Her sweet baby girl, Harper, is about 6 days older than Colt. I was still pregnant when I received her blog from a friend saying, "Pray for Harper." Of course I prayed, followed her blog and still follow her blog. Harper is no longer sick, but I enjoy reading about their family. Every Friday, Kelly does a "show me where you live Friday" where you post pictures of whatever room is on tour for that week and you can tour over 300 living rooms, kitchens and so forth! Its great and I have gotten some really good decorating ideas! This week we are touring children's rooms & nurseries. I hope this is an example that it doesnt have to cost you an arm and a leg to get what you want! Especially when you have a mother in law (Tammy) who says, "oh we could make that!"I wanted Colt to have an outdoorsy kind of room, not camo, not western, but a nice compromise of everything boy, nothing baby, something I have never seen before as well as easy on the pocket book!! Bargains are my favorite and I love the feeling after I buy something on sale, cheaper at another place or cheaper because I made it! This project felt like a design on a dime project and I loved every minute of the challenge!

The shutters on the window were made by the talented Pappaw. Tammy used the left over fabric to make curtains in the shutters.
Changing table wall
The barnwood changing table I got at Canton for $80. It wasn't a changing table, but Blake made a frame for my changing pad I got at a shower and we placed it on top. The "Hi yall" open box I got half price at Hobby Lobby for $8. It holds lotion, powder and wipes. The dog picture was my grandmother's and looks exactly like our lab. The european mount above the shelf was Blake's. The metal star on the shelf I got for $5 at a cute store around town. The Hand carved indian, Blake got for college graduation. Carved & painted (by hand) made especially by Pappaw, Blake's grandad. Please check back later for another post about that. He is starting to sell them on ebay. The metal shelf I got half price at hobby lobby for $15. The gun holster bag hanger I got at half price at hobby lobby for $12
Total cost of diaper changing wall = $120

Rocking chair corner before and after
I got the lamps on the post half price at walmart for $20

The white door came from the ranch. We took it off an old barn and it is leaned up against the wall. The picture frame with cross and fabric was made by Tammy. The cowboy hat was my grandads. The lamp was half price at hobby lobby for $30. The side table was made. I bought a stool ($12) and an old wine barrel($18) from canton. Screwed them together and Blake made a top for it. Tammy covered the top in leather fabric and trimmed it with fringe, nail heads and leather barbed wire. The rocking chair was Blake's great great grandmothers! The throw and pillow were made by Tammy.
Total cost of Rocking chair seating area = $60

Lamp and table upclose
Crib wall
Blake's Pappaw truly is talented. He made the CTK "brand" for us (that Tammy drew) and I painted it. Blake made the board behind it with the left over barnwood and we white washed it. I got the concho's from Hobby Lobby (.99 for 5 = $5) and glue gunned them on for the border. The tree on the left was made by Tammy. I bought the "fake tree vase" from TJ Maxx on sale for $20. The shelf it is sitting on is from Canton for $50. The crib was Blake's from 26 years ago!
Total cost of crib wall = $75
Colt's bedding was made by Tammy as well. I picked out stripe fabric, leather fabric, and cow fabric. We used this all around the room.

Nursery Exit
Thank heaven for little boys sign was given to me by my cousin in law. The plaque on the right are the "cowboy commandments" given to us by my dad.
Nursery Exit = $0
We did paint the room and buy frabric. The cost of paint was about $50 and the cost of fabric was about $150.
A big THANK YOU to Tammy. I know you all are wishing she was apart of your family right about now, but NO you cannot have her...She's mine :)
I hope everybody can get a few ideas they can use from this room! I hope you enjoyed the tour and please feel free to follow our blog so you can Keep up with the Krecks! :) Happy weekend!

Although I told you months ago how fab Colt's nursery was, I will say it again! Good job mama. Oh, and the total cost of the diaper changing wall far exceeds $120 if you include the cost of the sassy Burberry bag hanging there... xoxo
