I'm kind of at a loss for words right now. This past week has been a whirlwind, but in a good way. Last Thursday we welcomed sweet baby Colt Thomas into this world at 10:23am weighing 7lbs 4oz, 18 3/4 in long... via c-section. What an experience that was! When they say "you'll feel a little pressure" that is definitely the understament of the YEAR! Pressure = TUGGING/PULLING/TRY TO FALL OFF THE TABLE...ok, obviously I wasn' t going to fall off the table, but it felt like it. We arrived at the hospital at 8am sharp and not surprisingly my parents and Blake's parents beat us there!! We checked in and headed straight back to be prepped. Blake was AMAZING!!! Although I must add that he saw bubbles going through my IV and had to lie on the floor to avoid passing out. One of the Dr's took him back to the OR prior to surgery to show him around and gave him a coke. After that...he was a champ. We were told we could take still pictures, but no video allowed. If you know Blake...rules DO NOT apply to him and no is NEVER an option. With that said, he videoed the WHOLE surgery...it really was amazing. (If you are wondering how he got away with it...our video camera shoots still pictures...so yes, my husband is a liar. The surgery started at 10:17 and baby Colt was here at 10:23. Very fast! After they zipped me back up, we headed back to the recovery room where we could immediately see family and friends...2 at a time. It was great. Our 3 night stay turned into 4 nights do to a few feeding issues with Colt. Babies are expected to lose weight after birth, but only 10% is good. He had lost 11% and we had to revise his feeding plan. After 16 hours of the revised feeding schedule he had already gained back 4oz (THANK YOU JESUS). We left bright and early Monday morning and drove straight to babies r us! Seriously...we did...in my pj's and ugg slippers. We had to pick up much needed items before heading to Chan's for lunch and then Home sweet home! Pain pills work wonders...let me tell ya! They make you feel like superwoman, but yes I did pay for it later...I'm resting and TRYING to let other's do things for me, but I did get in a load of laundry yesterday which was not such a great idea. Anyways, thank you to everybody who prayed, left emails, texts, comments etc...I loved them all, read them all.
When other's tell you how great it is to be a mom for the first time, you really cannot understand the depth until its actually happening. And boy is that the truth. What a miracle...the whole process...pregnancy, birth and all.
During our stay, Blake would pull his bed up next to mine as if we were sleeping with eachother and we would hold hands through the railing. After the first night, we couldn't take it anymore and I climbed in bed with him. What a wonderful feeling to have him hold me without my belly being so HUGE and we could actually snuggle and fall asleep together.
Blake is superdad. He has been nothing, but amazing. He changed every diaper, up until I changed my first one SATURDAY :) Helped me tag team feedings...meaning, I breastfed, handed him to Blake. Blake burped him, fed him expressed b-milk, and then a small amount of formula...while I pumped for the next feeding. We turned an hour process into 30 minutes. GO US!
Since we've arrived at home, we are adjusting to a new baby, trying to let the dog know we still love her too, and I'm adjusting to my new sleeping schedule...feed baby, sleep, feed baby, sleep feed baby, sleep, as well as me trying to adjust to hormones leveling out = cry cry cry :)
Dixie (the dog) has been the best baby monitor $$$ couldn't buy. She is the first one to hear Colt cry, jumps off my side of the bed, goes to see what he's doing and comes back to get me...as if she's saying "make it stop mom."
Here are a few pictures...the rest are on facebook...enjoy!!

Don't know where that j came from at the end of my name...
Colt is a precious, precious angel. And you sound like you are a wonderful mommy already. If you have any questions AT ALL, send them my way. In the mean time, get as much rest as you can and kiss that beautiful baby boy at least 100 times a day! You'll be planning his 1st birthday party in NO TIME! Lots of love to you and your sweet new family.
