50 years later...

My grandparents, Mamaw and Papaw (technically Blake's maternal Gparents, but their mine too), are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today! Isn't that awesome?! 50 years of marriage...I hope mine lasts just as long and is as happy as theirs!

Their kids threw them a big party with about 80 of their friends and family complete with cake, jam session, champagne toast and a wonderful wonderful home cooked meal! I was lucky enough to contribute by making 20lbs of mashed potatos! and they were gooooooood....but I probably won't eat mashed potatos for a while :)

This party was extra special because Mamaw and Papaw never had a wedding. They got married in secret while they were still in HS and 16 years old! So tonight they finally got to cut their cake and feed it to eachother! So sweet!

Our FamOur family with Mamaw and Papaw M & P with their grandkids & 1 great
A few months ago Tammy sent out quilt squares to all their friends and family to decorate however they chose...whether it be a special memory or picture... and she had a quilt made out of all of them ... it was a complete surprise and it turned out great. What an awesome keepsake to have! What an accomplishment to be married and still in love after 50 years! Happy anniversary Mamaw and Papaw!!!!

Meanwhile...in 2010!

We rung in the new year out at the lake house... ...with about 14 super fun family members. Even Colt got to see the ball drop and get kissed at midnight!I had to get a picture of this face that I often see at this angle crawling up my legs...This is him saying " please can I go nigh nigh?!!" Its not very cute is itAfter the 1st, Blake and I enjoyed a fun trip out to the ranch to try and get one last shot at "the big one." Neither of us shot, but I might have succeeded in freezing my fingers and toes off. Blake also got a picture of me at my best. HA! Kelsey didn't think I would post this, I think its hysterical that I look like an 8 yr old boy. Hotness! My curtains are hung in the dining room. I'm thrilled... We are having friends over for dinner twice this week and I think we may eat in there just for fun! It never gets any love, but I think it should....
Colts FIRST birthday invitations are in the mail!! That is just weird.
*I'm in desperate need of some fabulous grey/silver/pewter heels to wear in my Brother-in-law and Lanna's wedding! I need to get my bmaids dress hemmed and I need shoes!! Fabulous shoes that aren't as tall as I normally wear so I can wear them all day :) I've learned my lesson on that one! Help a sister out!*

Christmas 2009

Well, after 9 super fun parties...we are pooped! It's been great to just chill these past few days while Blake went to the ranch. C and I have been at my parent's house planning away for his bday party, eating leftovers, lots of pie and hanging out in our jammies. Here is the short Christmas recap...

Blake and I did our presents different this year. He loves to surprise me. Meaning, if I say "hey, I want this," I know for a fact I'm NOT getting it. It has to be his idea and a complete surprise. I needed a black bag really bad because ALL of mine are brown! So when I came across the most beautiful black Gucci bag ON SALE at Saks Off Fifth... I had to have it. I told Blake about my awesome find pleading for him to actually get me something I asked for and after much consideration and begging on my part...he AGREED, but I couldn't have it until Christmas :) Of course, he couldn't resist and had to surprise me with something on Christmas morning, so he gave me a gift card to my fav store... you guessed it...Saks Off Fifth! WHEE! Since I got something I asked for...he got to have the Kimber 45?? that he asked for. Merry Christmas honey!

If you know me at all, you know one of my biggest pet peeves is baby stuff! I just hate toys everywhere, cluttering and taking over the house making it look like a baby lives there. I'm kind of like Bree from Desperate Housewives minus the gourmet cook part! You can imagine my dismay as we filled the living room Christmas night with all of C's loot from the day...lots and lots of toys. (That he LOVED BTW!) I should have taken a picture of this rare moment before it was quickly cleaned up and all the toys found a home in Colt's closet! Don't worry, they will come out everyday so Colt can play! I am fun too, ya know! :)

My favorite thing this year was watching this little cutie's face open tons of presents! I'm not exaggerating when I tell you that his face looked like utter shock and childlike wonderment EVERY time he opened a present. It was almost as if he knew what was going on. I'm sure he got so excited because we were excited, nonetheless, it was priceless! I can't wait for his birthday in a few weeks just to see this face again! HA!
This was super cool...Aunt Haley and Uncle Nick bought him a stuffed mounted deer! How cute is that?!
I hung it here...Colt wakes up in the mornings now saying "Dee." So we have a new word!
Driving his big boy car"baby" grand piano from Yaya and Doodad I have to mention that my in-laws give the most thoughtful and awesome gifts ever!!! I never ever can guess what I will be opening at their house on Christmas Day. It is always a surprise.

My fabulous MIL remembered how much I loved/wanted/had to have this fabric for my dining room curtains and, of course, she went above and beyond...not only did she buy ALL the fabric...she MADE the curtains for me! She even bought rods so they are ready to be hung!

Can't wait to see how they look! She even remembered that I needed a fire place screen. The picture doesn't do it justice. There is an oak tree and a deer on it. It is awesome! I just love it!...and my parents might have gotten me these Louboutins, but I'm not sure :) We ended the night like this...little C with his new horse towel from Yaya and Doodad. So...we have to wait another year for Christmas. I'm sure it will come just as fast as this one did! A new year is upon us...and 2010 has lots of major events for our family...

Another year past...

It's my mother-in-law's birthday today!!! I won't tell you that she turned 49 because I hear that its rude to tell someone's age...so you can just guess. But I will say she has a BIG birthday coming up in exactly ONE yr from today!
Most find it quite odd that I'm BFF with my MIL, but I love it. She's awesome and super fun! Not to mention, crafty, a wonderful grandmother, always says yes to anything you need, she is always down for me just popping in to watch TV or come borrow something, or even joining me on a shopping extravaganza (even though its not her fav thing) and she will even give you a "pish" :) I love you Tammy!
We had a fun party for her at my house and, at her request, we all wore our jammies! Did I mention I love that lady?!!! There is nothing like a nice wine, steak, baked potato, salad, gbeans, mac n cheese meal while being comfy and cozy!
Blake and Joe(FIL) HANDWASHING the dishes! I used my china and it all had to be handwashed. Thanks guys! Lanna, Jake, Tam and Mamaw...trying to make room for cake :)

Colt tried to escape...
...I found him with his friend, Santa

C loves his aunt Gina

Tam with her yummmmmy cake! (biggest Tx Ranger fan right here)Little C helping his Gertie blow out her candles.
Colt loves him some cake....He gets it from his mama :)

Everybody in their PJ's! except for two...AHEM!...but I won't mention your names

Super fun night! We have 3 parties down and 6 to go! I need to get pictures from Saturday nights party...Still to come!
Happy birthday Tammy. I hope you had a great day! MUAH!
