I'm a big boy now I'm ONE!!!!!!!

It's hard to believe at this time last year I was checking into the hospital to get prepped for surgery to have our first baby. Pre-surgery...ready to rollBlake all scrubbed in trying not to faint :)It really doesn't feel like it could possibly be a year ago! I'm so happy Blake video'd the whole C-section, against hospital rules, so I can re-live Colt's arrival anytime I want. I have yet to watch the WHOLE video because I have been told that it looks like something off the discovery channel and I'm not prepared to see my body cavity open for all to see...yet. I'm sure I'll watch it all one day...in the future.

(They opened me up at 10:17 and he was here at 10:23)

Blake got to hold him first Our first family photo! Immediately after my awesome Dr. sewed me up, I was taken back to the room I was prepped in and family and friends were able to come in, 2 at a time, to come meet Colt! There were about 15 people waiting for Colt to get here and got to hold him when he was 30 minutes old!

So, its a year later...Colt is one and I just can't believe myself as I say it!

Happy FIRST birthday my little angel baby who's no longer a baby, but a little boy!!

Precious Colt, you have turned into my little parrot and imitate everything we say AND do! You are so big and I can't believe you are one!!!! Let's see what you are up to these days!...

You say "uh oh" when you drop something

You sign "more" when you want more food, when you want us to read you a book, when you want us to keep doing something i.e. keep tickling or chasing you, reading or singing to you. Basically it means "I want that"

You sign "milk" when you want milk.

You say "nigh nigh" when you are tired and ready to go to sleep.

You identify your ears, head, tummy, tongue, nose and teeth when asked. For some reason you think your eyes are in your ears! Its so funny...I'm still trying to get you to blink when asked where your eyes are.

You identify the people you know in pictures by saying their name.

The Peek a boo barn app on my iphone is your favorite game. You know how to open the barn door and you say the name of the animals and/or make the sounds.

You can answer the following questions...

Who's that?

What's that?
What does an elk say? ahooooooo in a really loud pitched tone

What does a cow say? mmmooo

What does an indian say? says "ahhh" while hitting your mouth
What does a cat say? meow

What does Elmo say? HAHAHAHA (he has a tickle me elmo that laughs)
What does a sheep say? AHHHHH
What does Santa say? ho ho ho
Who loves you? and since Yaya taught you this, your answer is YAYA. I'm trying to switch it to Mommy :)
You have been off the bottle for TWO weeks! It was such a non event and I don't even think you noticed.

You are loving your whole milk

You take two naps a day and always let me know when you are tired and wake up so happy!

You still only have 6 teeth

You wear size 4 shoes and 12-18 month clothes

You wear size 4 diapers

You love to eat everything we are eating...such as: Pizza, spaghetti, mashed potatos, enchiladas, beans, guacamole, avacados, quesadillas, grilled cheese, meatloaf, eggs, cake, cookies, carrots, pudding, chicken nuggets, bananas, cinnamon toast, toast & jelly, Macaroni, pancakes, oatmeal and pretty much everything! You are not a huge fan of green beans, peas, or brocolli....I'm not either :)

You love your hippo that Jerica gave you before you were born. You even sleep with it and hug it all the time.

You LOVE for people to read you books. You will go get one, sit down and sign "more" to let us know you want us to read it.

Everytime you see a candle or fireplace (lit or not) you say "hah" for hot and try to blow it out

You crack up laughing when daddy juggles.

You will go up to things you aren't suppose to touch and say "nuh nuh"

Still NO walking, no steps no nothin', just speedy gonzales crawling, pulling up on anything/everything, and standing by himself for a few seconds...looks like he's got the brains and not the brawn :)

We have a big day planned today for your birthday...
Everybody stay tuned for a first birthday play by play!

Another first...

This morning I was in desperate need to go the grocery store. I had been putting it off for days now and if I didn't go today...we were all going to starve. Little C and I ate breakfast and headed off to good 'ol Wally World. Going shopping is one of my favorite things to do with Colt. He is so precious, loves to look at people, tells EVERYBODY and everyTHING "hi" and I love when he can identify certain items around the store i.e bananas, milk, "nanas" "signed milk" etc...

Anywho, before we left, I needed to wash/dry his hippo (as seen in the picture below from yesterday's mall extravaganza). I made sure the wash was done so I could put everything in the dryer before we left so when we got back he could have a clean hippo for his nap. We got home, he was saying "nigh nigh" so I handed him his still warm clean/dry hippo and sat him on the floor for a second so I could finish unloading my frozen items. I look over and he's not there, I know he likes to go in Blake's office so I figured thats where he had gone off too...I get back there...nope not there. I look to my left and there is Colt...in the bathroom standing by the toilet. UH OH! I immediately gasped when I saw him swishing Mr. hippo around in the toilet! AHHHHHHHHH!!! Mr. hippo is now in the wash for his second time today :) and Colt is napping without him. Bathroom door shut...CHECK!

"I got my toes in the water...Life is good today!" -Zac Brown Band

Today, Gertie and Poppy took little C to the zoo...

...while mommy had a free day spent basically cleaning and then at the spa! In honor of his birthday on Friday...I did what any good mom would do and had his monogram put on my toes :)

Only 3 more days until he turns ONE!!!!!!

This & That

I know you've been waiting on pins and needles to hear if I found any pewter shoes for Jake and Lanna's wedding. Wait no more because HERE they are (in pewter). Of course, good 'ol DSW never fails me!

It is official...my itty bitty 7lb 4oz baby boy will be one in 7 days!!! Can I get an OH EM GEE?!

I went to "Buy Buy Baby" today to see if I could find something to get little C for his bday. Low and behold, Erin, Brylee, Colt and I walked in and immediately saw exactly what I was going to get Colt. Set up in the middle of the store was a roller coaster! Don't get too excited, its not huge. I put Colt on it, pushed him down, his face lit up and he was saying "oh!" all the way down just like he did when he received his Elmo....

...when he got to the bottom he was doing the sign for "more more more" and wanted to go again! I immediately said, "Somebody take this to the front for me, I'm buying it!"

I can't believe my little shooger bug will be ONE next week! Its just too weird to say that...I'm thinking Chucky Cheese should be involved because I've been dying to have a reason to eat their pizza!

50 years later...

My grandparents, Mamaw and Papaw (technically Blake's maternal Gparents, but their mine too), are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary today! Isn't that awesome?! 50 years of marriage...I hope mine lasts just as long and is as happy as theirs!

Their kids threw them a big party with about 80 of their friends and family complete with cake, jam session, champagne toast and a wonderful wonderful home cooked meal! I was lucky enough to contribute by making 20lbs of mashed potatos! and they were gooooooood....but I probably won't eat mashed potatos for a while :)

This party was extra special because Mamaw and Papaw never had a wedding. They got married in secret while they were still in HS and 16 years old! So tonight they finally got to cut their cake and feed it to eachother! So sweet!

Our FamOur family with Mamaw and Papaw M & P with their grandkids & 1 great
A few months ago Tammy sent out quilt squares to all their friends and family to decorate however they chose...whether it be a special memory or picture... and she had a quilt made out of all of them ... it was a complete surprise and it turned out great. What an awesome keepsake to have! What an accomplishment to be married and still in love after 50 years! Happy anniversary Mamaw and Papaw!!!!

Meanwhile...in 2010!

We rung in the new year out at the lake house... ...with about 14 super fun family members. Even Colt got to see the ball drop and get kissed at midnight!I had to get a picture of this face that I often see at this angle crawling up my legs...This is him saying " please can I go nigh nigh?!!" Its not very cute is itAfter the 1st, Blake and I enjoyed a fun trip out to the ranch to try and get one last shot at "the big one." Neither of us shot, but I might have succeeded in freezing my fingers and toes off. Blake also got a picture of me at my best. HA! Kelsey didn't think I would post this, I think its hysterical that I look like an 8 yr old boy. Hotness! My curtains are hung in the dining room. I'm thrilled... We are having friends over for dinner twice this week and I think we may eat in there just for fun! It never gets any love, but I think it should....
Colts FIRST birthday invitations are in the mail!! That is just weird.
*I'm in desperate need of some fabulous grey/silver/pewter heels to wear in my Brother-in-law and Lanna's wedding! I need to get my bmaids dress hemmed and I need shoes!! Fabulous shoes that aren't as tall as I normally wear so I can wear them all day :) I've learned my lesson on that one! Help a sister out!*
